Where do I register? Click here to register for primary recruitment. We can't wait to meet you! Do I have to attend all events during formal recruitment? Yes, it is extremely important that you attend all of the recruitment events on your schedule once the first round begins. This gives you the opportunity to keep your options open and connect with more women. Friday and Monday may include events that might conflict with your class schedule. Be sure that you address the time conflicts with your Recruitment Counselors.
Is there an opportunity to join outside of formal recruitment held at the beginning of the fall? Yes! Most chapters will have the opportunity to join them in the spring as well through a more informal process. It is also possible that some chapters will continue to extend bids after fall recruitment. Contact [email protected] for more information!
What do I do if I go through Recruitment and end up deciding sorority life is not for me? You are under no obligation to join a sorority just because you participate in Recruitment. You are encouraged to participate in Recruitment because it is an excellent opportunity for you to learn about sorority life and meet new friends.
How much does it cost to join? Each organizations' dues vary in amount. The initial semester of joining can cost from $685 - $950, with most organizations not costing more than $1,000 for the entire year. One of the reasons that the initial semester is more than a typical semester is due to the one-time initiation fee. The second semester (and each semester thereafter) costs typically range from $400-$700.
Is there a minimum GPA requirement? Any female student, regardless of GPA, is welcome to register for Panhellenic Recruitment. However, each chapter has a grade point requirement that is typically above a 2.5.
Can women who are not freshmen go through Formal Recruitment? Yes! Sororities accept women of all academic class levels - as long as you are an undergraduate student on the MTSU campus; and not simultaneously enrolled in high school courses - you are eligible to join a sorority. Sorority life has many wonderful opportunities to offer all college women.
Do I need a recommendation letter to participate in the recruitment process? Letters of recommendation are not required for participation in recruitment. If you have a close family friend or relative that is a member of a sorority represented at MTSU, feel free to ask that woman to submit a letter on your behalf. If you do not have a close connection to a woman who is a member of a sorority represented at MTSU, don't stress! Plenty of women participate in recruitment and are successful in the formal process without letters of recommendation. If you have a recommendation, please have it submitted at least two weeks prior to recruitment's first round. To submit recommendations, ask the alumna member to submit it through their national sorority's website.
Do I have to live in a sorority house if I join? When it comes to sorority housing, each chapter is different. Currently, all 6 sororities affiliated with an NPC group have on campus housing. At some point during your membership it is likely that you will be required to live in the house. Individual chapters have bylaws and policies dictating who can live in and when.
