College is a time to explore who you are, what matters to you, and what value you want to bring to the world! And joining a sorority is about finding your people – the women who will cheer you on and challenge you along the way. Your future sisters will be there to support you as you learn all that you’re capable of, and through the sorority experience you’ll tap into your potential through exploring leadership, giving back to the community, and serving others.

Sorority is … coming together to make a difference! Sororities bring incredible women together and provide outlets and support for us to do real good in our community. We believe there is no group at MTSU that has the power to impact our world like sororities!

Sorority is … fun! It’s about always having those go-to girls you can sing at the top of your lungs with, late-night study buddies, that sister who is there when you need ice cream (or a hug), and a mentor who inspires you to be the best version of you.

Sorority is … a deep network and well of opportunities that will help you succeed – beyond what you can imagine today. Your sorority helps you find your niche at MTSU through opportunities to connect and lead, and the benefits of the sorority experience are real. Sorority women are three times as likely to have an internship in school and twice as likely to have a job when they graduate.

Sorority is … a community of support. You’ve heard about our “sisterhood.” Sororities provide a family and a home away from home. Your sisters will be there for you – for celebrating your wins, for tough conversations, and for when you need a shoulder to lean on. Sisterhood is deeper than friendship and lasts far beyond the few years we’re in college.

Fall Recruitment is a great way to meet all six National Panhellenic Conference sororities at MTSU. As a new or returning student at MTSU, formal recruitment allows you to get connected on campus and form a network of close friends within just a few days. Fall Recruitment is a weekend long series of events, coordinated by the Panhellenic Council, where the chapters get to know you, and you get to know the women of each chapter. All recruitment events will follow health and safety guidelines. If you are not comfortable with an in person event due to COVID-19, we will make special arrangements for you. If you have any special accommodations, please let us know so we can make appropriate adjustments for you to have the best possible recruitment experience possible!

There are opportunities to participate in spring informal recruitment each spring semester.

Participation in sorority recruitment allows women the opportunity to connect to the campus community immediately. As soon as the fall semester begins various activities will be planned for women participating in recruitment. Women will be placed in small groups with fellow students participating in the recruitment process. This allows women to create bonds and find a support system within the first few days of being on campus. Additionally, each group has two assigned Recruitment Counselors that serve as mentors and provide guidance to women in their group.

Registration ends in August. Be prepared to provide academic information and high school and college involvement, if applicable, when registering. You will also be required to pay a $35 fee to register prior to being placed in a Recruitment Group.

Letter from the VP of Membership

Sorority recruitment is a unique experience that brings excitement, nerves, and
possibilities. You have most likely seen tiktoks or social media posts with ideas such
as #BamaRush. Here at MTSU Panhellenic, we strive for knowing you, for you. Here
are a few things you should know before bid day.

First, if you are on the fence about signing up for recruitment, I would highly
encourage you to do it. It can be scary at first, but all you have to gain is a collection of new friendships and opportunities of all sorts. You will regret not giving it a chance!

Second, get to know your Recruitment Counselor! She has given up her letters to help you find yours, and she wants to get to know you and help you through the process. She is there to answer all of your questions, get you excited, and calm your nerves as recruitment nears. She has been through this before and can relate to all of your emotions and experiences.

Third, spend time with your recruitment group. Some of them might end up being
your sisters! If they do not run home with you, they will still be your Panhellenic pals. Fostering relationships with women in other sororities is a vital part of a well-
rounded Greek life experience and one of my favorite parts.

Lastly, trust the process. It sounds cliche, but you will end up exactly where you need to be. Make sure you keep an open mind and give every organization a fair chance because you never know what kind of experience and love is waiting for you on the other side. Do not give up on recruitment halfway through the weekend; see it through to see all the excitement of bid day.

My biggest advice comes from a quote, “To do anything truly worth doing, I must not stand back shivering and thinking of the cold and danger, but jump in with gusto and scramble through as well as I can.” -Og Mandino

I wish you all the best and cannot wait to meet you!

Fraternally,
Chloe Bastone
