Spring recruitment (also referred to as Continuous Open Bidding or informal recruitment) is an informal process that sororities use to extend an invitation of membership to new members. Unlike formal recruitment, there are no long days of going from round to round or complicated rankings. All sororities will take part in spring recruitment but the number of invitations vary by group. When is it held? Spring recruitment happens continuously once the spring semester begins on January 16th besides school breaks and formal recruitment.
Who is eligible? All women who are MTSU students are eligible to participate as long as they meet 2 conditions: (1) They must have never been initiated into a National Panhellenic Conference sorority before. (2) They must not have received a bid during the fall semester through primary recruitment or COB and later turned it down or left their new member process.
What does signing the interest form commit me to? Nothing! Completing arecruitment interest formis just saying, “I’m interested in learning more and potentially joining a sorority.” Your information is also released to the sororities so they can make contact with you. If you complete an interest form, a sorority may or may not call you to meet or offer a bid. If they do, you can go to their event if you want, but you are always within your rights to say, “No, thanks.”
