What is Spring Recruitment? Spring recruitment (also referred to as Continuous Open Bidding or informal recruitment) is a very informal process that sororities use to extend an invitation of membership to new members. Click the link above for more information about the spring 2023 recruitment efforts! Unlike formal recruitment, there are no long days of going from round to round or complicated rankings. All sororities will take part in spring recruitment but the number of invitations vary by group. To participate, please complete the interest form located here. Additionally, if interested, please feel free to reach out to each group via their social media accounts linked here. Chapters will also contact potential new members on their own and hold a series of informal events to get to know you better. Each chapter does it differently. Some might go to dinner with a potential member. Some chapters might hold a ‘board game night’ at the sorority house and invite potential members to attend. The one thing these events do have in common is that they are a great way to casually meet people and they are always fun.
Stay tuned to www.mtsupanhellenic.com for more information about the spring recruitment process! Make sure to follow us on Instagram at @mtsupanhellenic! When is it held? Spring recruitment happens continuously once the spring semester begins on January 17th besides school breaks and formal recruitment.
Who is eligible? All women who are MTSU students are eligible to participate as long as they meet 3 conditions: (1) They must have never been initiated into a National Panhellenic Conference sorority before. (2) They must not have received a bid during the fall semester through primary recruitment or COB and later turned it down or left their new member process.
What does signing the interest form commit me to? Nothing! Completing arecruitment interest formis just saying, “I’m interested in learning more and potentially joining a sorority.” Your information is also released to the sororities so they can make contact with you. If you complete an interest form, a sorority may or may not call you to meet or offer a bid. If they do, you can go to their event if you want, but you are always within your rights to say, “No, thanks.”
How can I sign up? Sign Up Here!! It’s an online form. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at fsl@mtsu.edu or the CPH VP of Membership at mtsuvpmembership@gmail.com.
